Riga. This magically beautiful city of the north, the capitol city of Latvia, was the place I called my home for a great 10 months.
The topic about these 10 months being absolutely the best time of my life is for another post. This post is about this enchanting city and the best photos of it from all my time being there and exploring every corner of it.
I really fell in love with this city. It has been 4 years since I left it. And I wish to return there ever since. Not to live there, just for a holiday to relive all the great stories and see some people again.
Riga, has the biggest old city center in Europe. And it truly is breathtaking, the whole of it. The thing that amazed me most is the different styles of religious buildings. I’ve never before see an Russian Orthodox church, graveyards in the forests and stuff like that.
And the influence of Soviet Union also efected the development of the city. It was the first time I saw electricity powered buses for example. It’s quite a green solution, but the cables over the streets are not at all a pretty sight.
The medieval historic aspect of the city is really amazing aswell. Latvia was a rich country in times before the Soviet Union. They had a lot of glod and the latvian currency is even today above Euro and even British Pound.
And this is visible on the buildings in the old city of Riga.
The surroundings of old city center are surrounded by a huge park with the National Opera, Monument of Freedom and The University Of Latvia main building. It’s such a coasy feeling being in the old city of Riga. I love it,
we’ve spent a lot of time there, during the day.
And in the night, this place just shines in a completely different, night party style. And what parties there are.
I know, a lot of people don’t know about this place. But for sure it’s a place of must visit in life.
It’s totally over every expectation. A really great city, Riga, Latvia.
(Thank you Riga)
