As the day come to an end, it’s time to eat dinner. I don’t love making camping dinners just on my travels, but also on just one normal day, after work, like yesterday. It’s really fast to make something tasty, while enjoying the pure beauty of nature all around you.
Let me show you how to make. . .
Grilled Salmon Steak with Backed Potatoes
What do you need?
- Grilling equipment
- Char-coal
Time to make: 60 minutes
Ingiridients: (1 person)
- Salmon steak
- 5 medium-sized potatoes
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
- 2 small beers
Preparation
The First thing you need to do is make yourself a fire. The best option is to use a fire-pot, but if you don’t have one, you can just use rocks or dig a whole. Just be very careful about burning the environment!
Put some dry grass into the fire-pot bottom. Put some small pieces of dry wood over it. Than put some small pieces of char-coal on top of that.
Than start the fire on all four sides of the “fire pile”. When the fire gets stronger, put some more char-coal on it. But always be careful to keep the fire burning.
While the wind is keeping the fire nicely burning, you can prepare the Salmon Steak and Potatoes. The tricky part here is to have the fish and the potatoes ready to eat at the same time. So we are going to use a trick to bake them both at the same time.
Put the potatoes in the aluminum folio with some salt and wrap them up.
If the fire is already gone and you have nicely burning char-coal, put the potatoes in the fire place and cover it with char-coal.
When done with the potatoes, prepare the salmon steak. Put in on a plate and put Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper on both sides of the steak.
You should wait at least 15 minutes, after putting in the potatoes, before you put the fish on the fire. The fish is grilled quite fast, in 10 minutes. And the potatoes need about 25 minutes to be baked properly.
Use this time to enjoy nature;)
After the beer put on the salmon steak and grill it for 10 – 15 minutes. Turning it around every 3-5 minutes to get it equally grilled on both sides and keep it juicy.
When the fish is nearly done, lift it and take out the potatoes with a stick. Be careful the aluminum folio is very hot after being in the fire. But the fish back on and unwrap the potatoes.
The folio gets cold after, like 2 minutes after being removed from the fire.
Put them on a plate and cut them in half. If you like you can put some salt on it.
The Salmon steak is ready by now. So now all you need to do is put it nicely by the potatoes on the plate, get yourself the other beer.
And just enjoy the all natural meal, prepared on all natural way . . . surrounded by almighty nature.
Aloha
